Build a Better Marriage Challenge

234swbettermarriagegraphics

Kicking off on February 1, this is the challenge you need if you are
1) female
2) married
3) not perfect.

If you are female and not married, you could still listen and get a laugh, maybe gloat a little bit about being single and not having to spend time on this marriage bit.
If you're female and perfect, please go away right now. Not that I'm jealous. I'm just... insecure. Quick. Go. Go before I throw myself sobbing at your feet. Or throw up on your feet. I'm not sure which one it would be.

Here's what it is:

A 30-day challenge to be deliberate about building a better marriage. We'll talk about some of the common obstacles to a better marriage (marriage killers) and some of the important habits for a successful marriage (marriage keys). We'll also work through some of the misconceptions that affect our marriage, faulty thinking we've picked up from our culture, our pasts, and maybe even from the church. Each day's reading will end with a 5-minute marrige check and a 5-minute action point, so you can take it on home.

Every Sunday we'll have a little round-up session; of course you can comment on any of the posts, any day, but on Sunday I'll open up a general discussion about the whole week's content, and you can discuss in the comments or link up to a related post on your own blog.

Duration:

Well, 30 days. February 1st through March 2nd. Each day's bit will be published here on SisterWisdom as a post and as a downloadable pdf, so you can save it and/or print it, according to your preferences. At the end of the challenge, I'll publish the whole thing as a single ebook which will be FREE to all challenge participants.

Okay, okay, how do I sign up?

Use the handy-dandy Mr Linky, below. You can link to your blog's homepage or to a specific post relating to the challenge or marriage in general, whichever you'd like to do.
If you want to participate but don't have a blog/website, just use this little contact form to send me your name/email.

  • Freedom to Focus Is Freedom to Accomplish
Focus is key in getting things done. Be diligent at what you're good at and see what happens. Let other things go, unimportant things. Distraction is the enemy of focus. Planning becomes procrastination and procrastination is the enemy of action. What distracts us? Distraction #1: Prep Work Before I can write or exercise or go here or fix that, [...] […]
  • Parenting 101: The Greatest Joy
It is 8:30 on a Saturday night and I am about to gorge myself on good chocolate and books. I am full of resolution. I am full of cheer. I am alone with the hot running water, in a cocoon the color of the shower curtain. My library loot is stacked beside me on the [...] […]
  • {Book Review} Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God by Sheila Walsh
Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God by Sheila Walsh Thomas Nelson Publishers; 3 out of 5 stars I like this book, I do, so I feel kind of guilty being harsh in my review. But repetition bores me, and the writing in this book is very formulaic. Each chapter follows the same format: personal story [...] […]
  • The Story of Us
The story of our marriage begins back in the 1990s. Okay, actually further back than that, in the 1980s, when a very young Joe had a crush on the little red-headed neighbor girl, and a very young Annie, miles away, decided she wanted to marry a brown-eyed Italian boy when she grew up. Then they met. They were [...] […]
