He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.

You can’t fix stupid (so don’t bother trying).
A hallmark of wisdom is pleasure in learning new things, expanding knowledge, gaining perspective. A wise person is open-minded, not in a way that means “I accept every proposal as truth” but in a way that means “I am willing to listen and consider what you say” … even if that means setting aside my own bias.
A hallmark of wisdom is knowing that there is much, much to learn; anyone who can share more with you, who can help you on the road of wisdom, becomes your friend and mentor. You may not agree with all that is shared, but you learn even through the disagreement.
