Day 10: Life Without a To Do List

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. Philo of Alexandria

Challenge Update (Monday): This week is Spring Break for me. Don't worry, there will be no "Girls Gone Wild" content here. No beaches. I am staying put in my cozy Midwestern town. I am the hostess of the spring break vacation this year. My Dad got here Sunday night and my sister, her boyfriend, and her two kids are en route. This is a great week to have no to do list.

I love having company, especially my family. But hospitality is a tricky thing, I'm learning. I do better, relax more, enjoy the spontaneous fun stuff we do if I am keeping up with my normal stuff and being at least a little productive. So, sans to do list, this is my hospitality list... (is that cheating?)

What I Will Do:
Keep up with daily routine as much as possible.
Stick to normal schedule (for me and the kids) when at home. (Obviously if we are at the zoo I'm not going to stop everything for nap time. For me or the kids!)
Stick to cooking food from my planned menu. (No special "kid" requests, sorry. I drive myself crazy trying to do that.)
Get my sister to help me hang pictures and curtains. (She is good at this; I am not. I shamelessly take advantage of her skills when she comes to my house. I will make her a cheesecake as compensation.)
Don't try to entertain, just ENJOY.

Better Life Tip: What is something you can do, at home or at work, that helps you keep your sanity and feel calm when things are busier, unscheduled, chaotic? Even good times like that can create stress. Find something that helps you maintain control - your routine, a morning walk, a clean kitchen, half an hour to read quietly - and make it happen. It's okay to leave guests alone for a while. It's okay to put a project aside for a time. It's okay to do something that will help you maintain your own good spirits.
